As a Strength and Conditioning coach, you will have the skills to develop strength, agility, speed and fitness for athletes from various sports and backgrounds. You will have the ability to ensure athletes peak when needed in their season by completing annual periodised plans and deliver the highest quality of coaching in the process. This course is not just for those looking to work with high level athletes, your niche may include youth training, crossfit athletes, special populations or general populations.

Course Struture and Content

How is the course delivered?


This course is completed by blended learning, however it is possible to complete this course fully via distance learning. Once enrolled, a tutor will be in contact to discuss your individual study plan. Your learning can be completed in as little as 6 weeks however you can take up to 12 months to complete your course if you would rather take your time. You will first need to work through and complete your home study using your workbooks, E-Learning and Tutor support. We also recommend you complete the 4 personal training qualification specific live interactive webinars. Once your home study is completed, you can then book onto a 2 day mandatory practical workshop. However this can be completed via webinar if required.




What is covered on this course?


As with all our qualifications, your strength and conditioning course is broken down into the core qualifcation, business or career set up and continued education. The course is delivered via home study, webinars, practical workshops and 1-1 Skype or face - face sessions. Your core qualification will include the following elements: Performance Analysis of an Athlete (Webinars, E Learning and Workbooks)

  • Understand the role of the strength and conditioning coach
  • Understand the demands of performance
  • Know how to source relevant information to inform practice
  • Be able to assess performance capabilities
  • Needs Analysis
  • Fitness Testing
Plan and Deliver Strength and Conditioning Sessions (Practical, Workbooks and Webinar)
  • Design long term periodised programs
  • Prepare for sessions with athletes
  • Delivering effective strength and conditioning sessions
  • Coach effective warm ups, speed, agility, plyometric and olympic lifting exercises.
Building your business (Webinars and 1-1 Sessions)
  • Selling your strength and conditioning service
  • Marketing your service
  • Website and logo design
  • Setting up as self employed
  • Developing oppurtunities in sports teams




What course materials are included?


Once enrolled, you will receive your NSCA Essentials of Strength and Conditioning Textbook and access to the E-Learning portal. Additional learning will be provided in live webinars (allowing you to ask questions during the session) videos and practical days. Our content is a mixture of written work, practical tasks, classroom style webinars, 1-1 skype sessions and hands on practical days to ensure you get the most value for your money.




How will I be assessed?


You will be assessed via a range of assessment methods across your course. These will include: Unit 1: Performance analysis of an athlete

  • A written assingment
  • A case study for an athlete of your choice, detailing your needs analysis and fitness testing.
Unit 2: Planning and delivering strength and conditioning sessions
  • A case study of your athlete detailing your periodised plan and programming
  • An observed strength and conditioning session with your athlete.




What if I fail an assessment?


Firstly, it is unlikely you will fail your assessment. Our job is to make sure that you are ready to complete your assessment, through feedback and guidance during your course. However, in the event that you did fail an assessment, you would be able to rebook your assessment free of charge.
